SQL 2 Excel Pro has the ability to cache your Workbooks on the server. You can specify how long the Workbook should be in cache before it gets refreshed.

Caching reduces the load on your server since the report doesn't have to be generated each time a user clicks the Download or Previews the spreadsheet. A spreadsheet that is generated by extensive SQL queries doesn't have to be executed every time a user accesses the report.

You can set the Cache parameters globally in the SQL 2 Excel Pro Component parameters dialog:

The cache directory is by default $JOOMLA/components/com_sql2excel/cache.  You can specify another existing folder for the cache if you want. Please note that the folder does have to exist!

You can also control caching on/off on each individual Workbook - if it should use the Global Cache settings, or if you want to override that for the Workbook.
